The Desert Modern Series reflects a style that emerged in the California and Southwest desert communities of the mid-twentieth century — clean horizontal lines, flat or low-slope rooflines, and an emphasis on the relationship between indoor and outdoor space. It’s an architectural approach that was, in part, a direct response to building efficiently in an arid climate: simple forms, minimal ornamentation, and materials suited to heat and sun.
The two models in this series, the Nelson and the Stonehill, are both single-story homes that carry this design language forward, built using the same kit-home approach that keeps the rest of the CDB lineup accessible.
